Remember how I said we got called into the Sunbeams? Well, yesterday, though they didn't sustain us, we taught the class. Cute kids, good kids. We were looking forward to the calling.
Last night we had a stake meeting for many of the wards in it. I went. Since our wards were so huge they created two more, and reorganized the existing ones. Well, they took our little town house complex from the 8th ward and stuck us in the 7th. So we were immediately released from our calling. However, I don't think it really counted for us. We weren't sustained or set apart, so basically we just subbed.
Now we are in a new ward. Well, and already existing ward. We go to a church a bit farther away, (still very close, in our neighborhood, but not right next door to us) and we meet at 11:00 rather than 9:00. That's a perfect time.
There really aren't very many familie's in our little complex. Most of them aren't built and won't be for a very long time if ever. So we are just a few families moving out of our ward and going to another. It's a lot like when the wards changed when we lived in Caldwell. The ward we were in stayed mostly the same, but they transplanted our little street to a different ward, leaving the rest of our neighborhood in the first one.
We've been married for 3 1/2 years and have been in 5 wards. We never really get to know people before we move or are moved. We aren't very outgoing as it is, so it's kind of hard to make friends and get to know people, but oh well. This isn't complaining. I don't disagree with the ward changes; I realize the stake presidency worked hard on this and prayed and received revelation for the changes. Change is good.

Not to worry. If you were sliced and diced into a smaller ward, a calling will come quicker and callings = new friends.
It is a sad by-product of church growth though--when wards are rearranged frequently roots don't so sink so deep. Everybody feels at loose ends and are disinclined to invest themselves.
Out of curiosity, what would you think about being in Young Womens?
.....and what is your bishop's name? ha
I think it would be fun to be in Young Womens, but I don't think I ever will get there. I think I'm doomed for only primary related callings.
I know how exactly how you feel Melanie. I've been in the primary for maybe two months now, but still never got set apart. I guess I was just a long sub :).
I'm glad I'll at least know you when we get to the new ward. And I'm loving the 11 am time slot. Except that in two months it'll switch to 1pm-the worst time ever if you have toddlers who nap at 1pm.
